Sometimes I take my sketchbook and go to the lake down from my house. The last time I didn’t get much done because someone was training their Labrador dogs. Labs love water but this was more than play time. The three dogs, black, brown and yellow, were retrieving balls thrown far out from the shore. Over and over they worked, retrieving what looked like tennis balls. After a while the yellow lab turned back without bringing the ball. It was swimming slower than the other two, so I figured it was an older dog that recognized its limitations. I related. That’s me, I’m the older dog, but I’ll not stop until I have to.
